The Mersen 44020400, also identified as the K2-4PG275, is a high-performance Type 2 surge protection device (SPD) designed to protect low-voltage electrical installations against transient overvoltages and induced lightning surges. Part of the Mersen Surge-Trap® K2 Series, this pluggable surge arrester provides dependable protection for three-phase power distribution systems.
With a maximum discharge current of 50 kA and a nominal discharge current of 20 kA, the Mersen 44020400 helps protect sensitive electrical and electronic equipment from damaging voltage spikes. Its four-pole configuration supports L-N and N-PE protection modes in TT and TNS systems, making it suitable for commercial, industrial and infrastructure applications.
The K2-4PG275 is designed for 230/400 V AC networks and has a maximum continuous operating voltage of 275 V AC between line and neutral. Its pluggable cartridge format simplifies maintenance, while the integrated visual status indicator allows operators to quickly identify when a protection module requires replacement.
Transient overvoltages can be caused by indirect lightning activity, power network disturbances and the switching of inductive electrical loads. These short-duration voltage spikes may damage control equipment, power supplies, machinery electronics and other sensitive devices connected to the electrical distribution system.
The Mersen 44020400 limits these overvoltages by safely diverting surge current away from connected equipment. It is suitable as a second level of protection where a Type 1 SPD is already installed or as primary surge protection in installations that are not directly exposed to lightning and do not use an external lightning protection system.
