The Mersen 44020401, also known as the K2-4PG275-M, is a high-performance Type 2 surge protection device (SPD) designed to protect low-voltage electrical installations against transient overvoltages and induced lightning surges. As part of the advanced Mersen Surge-Trap® K2 Series, this four-pole surge arrester delivers reliable protection for sensitive equipment connected to three-phase power distribution systems.
Featuring a 3+1 protection configuration, the Mersen K2-4PG275-M provides L-N and N-PE surge protection for TT and TNS electrical networks. It has a nominal discharge current of 20 kA and a maximum discharge current of 50 kA, enabling it to safely divert powerful transient currents away from connected machinery, control systems and electronic equipment.
The device is designed for 230/400 V AC installations and has a maximum continuous operating voltage of 275 V AC between line and neutral. Its pluggable protection modules simplify maintenance, while integrated visual and remote indication functions allow the operating status of the SPD to be monitored locally or through a building management and control system.
Transient overvoltages caused by indirect lightning strikes, utility network disturbances and the switching of inductive loads can damage sensitive electronic equipment. The Mersen 44020401 limits these voltage spikes by diverting surge energy away from connected machinery, control equipment and electrical distribution components.
Unlike the standard K2-4PG275 model, the K2-4PG275-M includes an integrated microswitch for remote indication. This contact can be connected to a building management system, alarm circuit or industrial controller, allowing maintenance teams to monitor the condition of the surge protection device without inspecting the distribution board manually.
