The Mersen SA85 is a compact selector handle operating shaft designed for compatible Mersen UL508 non-fusible disconnect switch assemblies. Featuring a 6 × 6 mm square profile and an overall length of 85 mm, it provides the mechanical connection between an enclosure-mounted operating handle and the disconnect switch mechanism inside the panel.
The SA85 enables authorised personnel to operate a compatible disconnect switch safely from outside an electrical enclosure. Its square shaft construction provides positive engagement with the external handle and internal switch mechanism, supporting reliable transfer of rotational movement during switching and isolation.
With its compact 85 mm shaft length, the SA85 is particularly suitable for shallow control panels and installations where the disconnect switch is positioned close to the enclosure door. It is supplied as an individual shaft accessory and must be combined with a compatible Mersen switch and selector handle.

Reliable External Operation for Compact Enclosures
The Mersen SA85 transfers the rotational movement of an externally mounted selector handle to a compatible disconnect switch located inside an electrical enclosure. This allows machinery and electrical equipment to be switched or isolated without opening the panel during normal operation.
When installed with the correct Mersen handle and switch mechanism, the shaft can form part of a door-interlocked operating arrangement. This helps prevent the enclosure door from being opened while the disconnect switch remains in the ON position. Compatibility and enclosure depth should be confirmed before installation.
The SA85 connects a compatible external selector handle to a Mersen disconnect switch mounted inside an electrical enclosure.
What are the dimensions of the SA85 shaft?
The shaft has a 6 × 6 mm square profile and an overall length of 85 mm.
Why would an 85 mm shaft be required?
The compact shaft is suitable for shallow enclosures or installations where the disconnect switch is positioned close to the panel door.
Is the SA85 supplied with an operating handle?
No. The SA85 is supplied as a shaft only. The compatible disconnect switch and external operating handle must be selected separately.
Can the SA85 support door interlocking?
Yes. When used with compatible Mersen components, the shaft can form part of an arrangement designed to help prevent the enclosure door from opening while the switch is in the ON position.
