The Danfoss MCD5-0195B-T5-G2 is a three-phase digital soft starter from the VLT® Soft Starter MCD 500 series, engineered for controlled starting and stopping of AC induction motors. Rated at 195 A, it is aimed at panel builders, OEMs and maintenance engineers who need smooth, repeatable motor control that reduces mechanical and electrical stress.
The MCD 500 limits start-up torque and inrush current with a controlled voltage ramp, while Danfoss Adaptive Acceleration Control (AAC) tailors the start and stop profiles to the load to help minimise water hammer in pumps and jerk in conveyors. An integrated bypass shorts out the thyristors once the motor reaches full speed, reducing heat dissipation and saving panel space.
Operating from a 3 × 200–525 V AC mains supply with a 110–220 V AC control supply, the MCD5-0195B-T5-G2 is supplied in an IP00 chassis format for installation inside a control panel or enclosure.
A soft starter ramps the voltage applied to an induction motor during start-up, limiting inrush current and the torque step that a direct-on-line start would impose. This protects couplings, belts, gearboxes and pumps from mechanical shock and reduces electrical stress on the supply.
The VLT® MCD 500 adds adaptive control and an integrated bypass so the motor is started and stopped smoothly, then run efficiently at full voltage – making it well suited to pumps, fans, conveyors and compressors across industry.
