Why Choose the Carlo Gavazzi DAC01CM40 Star-Delta Timer Relay?

The Carlo Gavazzi DAC01CM40 is a compact and dependable star-delta timer relay designed to control the starting sequence of three-phase induction motors. As part of the established Carlo Gavazzi DAC01 timer series, it provides adjustable timing and automatic transfer between the star and delta stages of a motor starter.

This timer offers selectable timing ranges from 0.1 s to 10 min, allowing the star operating period to be matched to the motor and driven load. After the selected time expires, the relay changes state to support transfer from the star contactor to the delta contactor.

With a dedicated 380–415 V AC supply, an 8 A SPDT relay output and a slim 22.5 mm DIN-rail housing, the DAC01CM40 is suitable for motor-control centres, pumps, fans, compressors and industrial machinery using high-voltage AC starter-control circuits.

Key Advantages

  • Purpose-designed timer for star-delta motor starting.
  • Selectable 0.1 s to 10 min timing range.
  • 380–415 V AC supply suits high-voltage motor-control systems.
  • 8 A changeover relay output supports industrial control circuits.
  • Slim 22.5 mm housing conserves control-panel space.
  • DIN-rail mounting and screw terminals simplify installation.

Key Features

  • Carlo Gavazzi DAC01 timer series.
  • Star-delta timing function.
  • Selectable timing ranges covering 0.1 s to 10 min.
  • SPDT relay output with one changeover contact.
  • 8 A AC1 contact rating at 250 V AC.
  • 380–415 V AC supply voltage.
  • Front-mounted controls for time-range and delay adjustment.
  • Industrial DIN-rail mounting in a Euronorm housing.

Reliable Star-Delta Starting for Industrial Motors

Star-delta starting reduces the current drawn by a three-phase induction motor during acceleration. The motor initially starts with its windings connected in star, reducing the voltage applied to each winding, before the timer initiates transfer to the delta connection for normal operation.

The Carlo Gavazzi DAC01CM40 controls this sequence automatically according to the selected delay. Correct coordination with suitably rated contactors and electrical interlocking helps prevent the star and delta contactors from being energised simultaneously.

Typical Applications

  • Three-phase induction motor starters.
  • Pumps, fans and ventilation equipment.
  • Compressors and refrigeration machinery.
  • Conveyors and material-handling systems.
  • Processing and manufacturing machinery.
  • Motor-control centres and industrial panels.
