Why Choose the IMO C30P/BN-1A Capacitive Proximity Switch?

The IMO C30P/BN-1A is a robust M30 shielded capacitive proximity switch designed for reliable non-contact detection of metallic and non-metallic materials in industrial automation applications. Part of the IMO C30 Series, it combines an adjustable sensing distance of 2–16 mm with a 10–40 V DC supply and complementary NPN outputs.

Capacitive sensing technology allows the C30P/BN-1A to detect a much wider range of target materials than conventional inductive proximity sensors. This makes it suitable for sensing plastics, glass, wood, paper, powders, granulates, liquids and metallic objects, as well as level and presence detection applications in automated machinery.

The sensor features a shielded M30 plastic housing for flush mounting, a fixed 2 m PVC cable and complementary NPN NO + NC outputs. Adjustable sensitivity, a 30 Hz switching frequency, IP67 protection and integrated electrical protection functions provide dependable operation in demanding industrial environments.

Key Advantages

  • Capacitive sensing technology detects both metallic and non-metallic target materials.
  • Adjustable 2–16 mm sensing distance provides flexibility for different applications.
  • Shielded M30 design enables flush installation into suitable mounting surfaces.
  • 10–40 V DC supply is compatible with common industrial automation systems.
  • Complementary NPN normally open and normally closed outputs simplify control-system integration.
  • Robust IP67 housing and integrated electrical protection support reliable industrial operation.

Reliable Non-Contact Detection for Industrial Automation

Capacitive proximity sensors detect changes in an electrical field when a target approaches the sensing face. Because this principle is not limited to metallic targets, the IMO C30P/BN-1A can be used to detect many conductive and non-conductive materials, making it particularly useful for product presence, material detection and level-monitoring applications.

The C30P/BN-1A combines adjustable sensitivity with complementary NPN outputs, allowing both normally open and normally closed signals to be available to the control system. Its shielded M30 construction enables flush mounting, while the IP67 enclosure and integrated short-circuit, polarity and overvoltage protection help ensure dependable performance in industrial machinery.

Typical Applications

  • Liquid and bulk-material level detection.
  • Powder and granulate presence monitoring.
  • Plastic, glass, paper and packaging material detection.
  • Automated packaging and processing machinery.
  • Conveyor and material handling equipment.
  • Industrial production and process automation systems.
