Why Choose the IMO FAIM/BN-1A M18 Retro-Reflective Photoelectric Switch?

The IMO FAIM/BN-1A is an industrial M18 retro-reflective photoelectric sensor designed for reliable object detection in machinery, conveying, packaging and material-handling applications. Its axial optical arrangement and robust nickel-plated brass housing provide a compact sensing solution for industrial automation systems where dependable non-contact detection is required.

The FAIM/BN-1A offers an adjustable retro-reflective sensing distance of up to 5 m when used with a suitable reflector. It uses 880 nm infrared emission and incorporates a sensitivity adjustment trimmer, allowing the sensor to be optimised for the reflector, operating distance and installation conditions.

Operating from a 10–30 V DC supply, the sensor provides complementary NPN NO+NC outputs with a load current of up to 100 mA. The FAIM/BN-1A is supplied with a 2 m PVC cable and features IP67 protection, making it suitable for demanding industrial automation environments.

Key Advantages

  • Adjustable retro-reflective sensing distance up to 5 m.

Reliable Retro-Reflective Detection for Industrial Automation

Retro-reflective photoelectric sensing uses a sensor containing both the emitter and receiver together with a reflector mounted opposite it. The FAIM/BN-1A sends an infrared beam towards the reflector and monitors the returned light, switching its output when an object interrupts the optical path. This arrangement provides long-range detection while requiring electrical wiring on only one side of the monitored area.

With its adjustable 5 m sensing capability, 250 Hz switching frequency and complementary NPN outputs, the FAIM/BN-1A can be adapted to a wide variety of automated machinery. Its metal M18 housing, IP67 protection and integrated electrical protection functions support reliable operation in demanding production and material-handling environments.

Typical Applications

  • Conveyor object detection.
  • Packaging and processing machinery.
  • Material-handling equipment.
  • Automated production lines.
  • Presence and position detection.
  • Product counting applications.
  • Warehouse and logistics automation.
  • Industrial machine control systems.
