Why Choose the IMO FMES/AP-3F Inductive Proximity Sensor?

The IMO FMES/AP-3F is a compact and robust M8 full-metal inductive proximity sensor designed for reliable non-contact detection of metallic objects in industrial automation, machinery and process equipment. As part of the IMO FM full-metal inductive sensor series, it features an AISI 316L stainless steel housing and active sensing face for increased durability in demanding industrial environments.

This sensor provides an enhanced nominal sensing distance of 2 mm in a short M8 cylindrical body. Its shielded, flush-mountable construction allows the sensor to be installed directly into suitable metal surroundings, making it particularly useful where mounting space is restricted or where a protected sensing arrangement is required.

The FMES/AP-3F operates from a 10–30 V DC supply and provides a PNP normally open (NO) output capable of switching loads up to 200 mA. With a 250 Hz switching frequency, M8 plug connection and IP68 / IP69K protection, it provides a durable sensing solution for position monitoring, component detection and demanding machine automation applications.

Key Advantages

  • Compact M8 full-metal inductive proximity sensor for industrial automation applications.
  • 2 mm enhanced nominal sensing distance for reliable metallic object detection.
  • PNP normally open output for integration with compatible PLC and control inputs.
  • Shielded design supports flush mounting into suitable surrounding metal.
  • Full-metal construction with AISI 316L stainless steel housing and sensing face.
  • IP68 and IP69K protection for demanding industrial environments.
  • M8 plug connection simplifies installation, maintenance and sensor replacement.

Reliable Non-Contact Metal Detection

Inductive proximity sensors such as the IMO FMES/AP-3F detect metallic targets without requiring physical contact. The sensor generates an electromagnetic field at its active face, and the presence of a suitable metallic target changes this field to operate the PNP switching output. This non-contact principle minimises mechanical wear and makes the sensor suitable for repetitive position and presence detection.

The FMES/AP-3F combines a compact M8 body with full-metal AISI 316L stainless steel construction and high levels of environmental protection. Its shielded design enables flush installation, while the 10–30 V DC supply range and PNP normally open output provide straightforward integration with compatible PLCs and industrial machine control systems.

Typical Applications

  • Metal component presence detection.
  • Machine position and end-of-travel sensing.
  • Industrial automation and assembly equipment.
  • Conveyor and material handling systems.
  • Production and packaging machinery.
  • Washdown and demanding industrial environments.
  • Position monitoring of metallic machine components.
  • OEM machinery and automated production systems.
