The nVent HOFFMAN PCFB1YZ is an exterior-mounted continuous flow purge and pressurisation system designed to help protect electrical and electronic equipment installed in hazardous locations. Using a controlled supply of clean, dry air or inert gas, the system first purges potentially hazardous gases or dust from an enclosure and then maintains positive internal pressure to help prevent hazardous external atmospheres from entering.
Designed for Type Y and Type Z pressurisation applications, the PCFB1YZ combines a control unit, calibrated outlet orifice and relief valve to maintain continuous protective flow through the enclosure. Local visual indication provides system status, while a dry contact output enables connection to a remote alarm system when required.
The PCFB1YZ features exterior mounting and uses 316L stainless steel with a brushed finish for excellent corrosion resistance. It operates with a dry, clean air or inert gas supply between 60–115 psi (4–8 bar) and is typically recommended for enclosures with an internal volume of up to 17 ft³.
Purge and pressurisation provides a practical method of protecting electrical equipment installed within hazardous environments.
