Why Choose the Carlo Gavazzi CLH5 Conductive Level Probe?
The Carlo Gavazzi CLH5 is a compact and flexible five-electrode conductive level probe head designed for monitoring conductive liquids in tanks, vessels and industrial process systems. As part of the Carlo Gavazzi CLH conductive level sensor series, it can accommodate up to five electrodes, allowing several liquid levels to be monitored using a suitable Carlo Gavazzi conductive level controller.
The CLH5 uses the conductive sensing principle and features a robust polypropylene (PP) probe head with screw-terminal connections. Its five-electrode capacity can provide up to four separate sensing levels when one electrode is used as the reference, making it particularly suitable for applications requiring multiple level points, including filling and emptying control, overfill alarms and pump dry-run protection.
Designed for flexible industrial installation, the CLH5 features a 1½-inch process connection, an IP65-rated housing and an operating temperature range of -20 to +90 °C. Compatible stainless-steel electrodes are ordered separately and can be supplied uninsulated or with PVDF or polyolefin insulation, while extension electrodes allow the sensing length to be configured for different tank depths.

Reliable Multi-Level Monitoring for Conductive Liquids
Conductive level sensing works by detecting an electrical path through a conductive liquid between a sensing electrode and a reference electrode. When the liquid reaches a selected electrode, a compatible level controller detects the change and can operate pumps, alarms or other process-control equipment without requiring moving components inside the tank.
With capacity for five electrodes, the Carlo Gavazzi CLH5 is particularly useful where several switching points are required within the same vessel. Electrode lengths can be configured using basic and extension electrodes, enabling individual sensing points to be positioned according to the required filling, emptying, alarm or protection levels.
Typical Applications
- Multi-level conductive liquid monitoring in tanks and vessels.
- Automatic pump filling and emptying systems.
- Pump dry-run protection.
- High-level and overfill alarm systems.
- Water and wastewater level control.
- Industrial process tanks and liquid handling systems.
