Why Choose the Carlo Gavazzi MOFT5-M12-2 Photoelectric Transmitter?
The Carlo Gavazzi MOFT5-M12-2 is a compact through-beam photoelectric transmitter designed for industrial object and presence detection systems using a separate amplifier. Part of the Carlo Gavazzi MOF photoelectric sensor family, this model features a rugged M12 stainless-steel housing, a narrow optical beam and a factory-fitted cable for reliable installation on industrial machinery.
The MOFT5-M12-2 operates as the transmitting element of a separate transmitter-and-receiver system, emitting 880 nm infrared light towards a corresponding MOF receiver. Its ±2° optical angle creates a well-defined beam, while the specified 5 m sensing distance makes it suitable for conveyor, packaging and automated production applications requiring dependable non-contact detection.
Designed for demanding industrial environments, the MOFT5-M12-2 provides IP66/IP67 protection and operates from -20 to +60 °C. The sensor is supplied with a 15 m shielded PVC cable and receives its supply through the compatible external amplifier, enabling the sensing head to be positioned remotely from the control electronics.

Reliable Through-Beam Photoelectric Detection
Through-beam photoelectric systems use separate transmitter and receiver heads positioned opposite one another across the detection area. The MOFT5-M12-2 provides the transmitting element, directing an infrared beam towards the corresponding receiver. When a target interrupts the beam, the receiving sensor and associated amplifier detect the change so that the machine control system can respond.
The combination of a 5 m sensing distance, narrow ±2° optical angle and compact M12 stainless-steel housing makes the MOFT5-M12-2 particularly useful where a small but robust sensing head is required. Its 15 m cable also allows the external amplifier to be installed well away from the sensing point.
