Reliable Through-Beam Detection for Industrial Automation
The Carlo Gavazzi MPF system uses separate photoelectric transmitters and receivers positioned opposite one another. The MPFT15-4 generates the modulated infrared beam, while the corresponding receiver monitors the beam and communicates with the MPF amplifier. Interruption of the optical path can then be used to identify an object or obstruction within the monitored area.
Through-beam sensing provides a reliable detection method because the receiver monitors a dedicated light source rather than relying on reflected light from the target. The MPFT15-4 combines this operating principle with a narrow optical angle, compact housing and long sensing distance, making it particularly suitable for industrial doors, gates and automated equipment.
