Why Choose the Carlo Gavazzi PMP6NGT Photoelectric Sensor?

The Carlo Gavazzi PMP6NGT is a robust polarised retro-reflective photoelectric sensor designed for dependable non-contact object detection in industrial automation systems. Part of the Carlo Gavazzi PMP6 series, it provides a sensing distance of up to 6 m and is well suited to conveyors, packaging machinery, material handling and general machine automation.

The PMP6NGT uses 660 nm visible modulated polarised red light and provides both normally open and normally closed switching. Its polarised optical system helps distinguish the intended reflector from reflections produced by shiny targets, supporting reliable detection in applications involving reflective objects.

An integrated adjustable timer adds valuable control flexibility, with delay-on-operate, delay-on-release and one-shot timing functions available. The sensor also features fixed sensitivity, screw-terminal wiring, a reinforced PC/ABS housing and IP67 protection for dependable service in demanding industrial installations.

Key Advantages

  • Reliable polarised retro-reflective detection up to 6 m.
  • NO and NC switching functions provide flexible control-system integration.
  • Integrated adjustable timer functions can reduce the need for separate timing components.
  • Visible 660 nm polarised red light supports straightforward optical alignment.
  • Fixed sensitivity provides simple, repeatable operation once correctly installed.
  • Robust reinforced PC/ABS housing for industrial environments.
  • IP67 protection provides resistance to dust and water ingress.

Polarised Retro-Reflective Detection with Integrated Timing

Polarised retro-reflective sensing works by transmitting a modulated light beam towards a reflector and monitoring the returned light. An object passing between the sensor and reflector interrupts the optical path and causes the output to change state. Polarisation helps prevent reflections from shiny target surfaces being mistaken for the designated reflector, improving detection reliability in industrial applications.

The PMP6 series also provides integrated timing functionality for applications requiring more than immediate switching. Adjustable delay-on-operate, delay-on-release and one-shot functions allow the PMP6NGT to provide timed control directly at the sensing point, making it useful for conveyors, sequencing operations and other automated machinery.

Typical Applications

  • Conveyor object and package detection.
  • Packaging and processing machinery.
  • Material handling and transfer systems.
  • Product presence and position monitoring.
  • Industrial door and gate automation.
  • Timed machine-control sequences.
  • General industrial automation equipment.
