Why Choose the Carlo Gavazzi PMR10RI Photoelectric Sensor?

The Carlo Gavazzi PMR10RI is a robust retro-reflective photoelectric sensor designed for reliable long-distance object detection in industrial automation applications. Part of the Carlo Gavazzi PMR series, it combines infrared optical sensing with a rugged rectangular housing for material handling, packaging machinery, automatic doors and general machine automation.

The PMR10RI provides a rated sensing distance of 10 m and uses 880 nm modulated infrared light. Its SPDT relay change-over output provides both normally open and normally closed contacts, while selectable light-on and dark-on operation allows the switching behaviour to be matched to the application.

A wide 12–240 V DC / 24–240 V AC supply range makes the PMR10RI suitable for a broad range of industrial control systems. Screw-terminal wiring, a 1/2-inch NPT cable entry, fixed sensitivity and an IP67-rated plastic housing provide a practical and durable sensing solution for industrial installations.

Key Advantages

  • Long-distance retro-reflective sensing up to 10 m.
  • SPDT relay change-over output provides NO and NC contacts.
  • Selectable light-on / dark-on operation for flexible machine-control integration.
  • Wide 12–240 V DC and 24–240 V AC supply range.
  • 880 nm modulated infrared sensing with good ambient-light immunity.

Long-Range Retro-Reflective Detection for Industrial Automation

Retro-reflective photoelectric sensing uses a sensor and a separate reflector positioned opposite one another. The sensor transmits infrared light towards the reflector and monitors the returned beam; when an object interrupts the optical path, the sensor changes the state of its relay output. This arrangement enables reliable long-range object detection while requiring electrical wiring at only the sensor side of the installation.

The Carlo Gavazzi PMR series combines this sensing principle with wide-range AC/DC power supplies and industrial relay outputs. The PMR10RI provides an SPDT change-over contact, selectable light/dark operation and a 10 m rated sensing distance, making it particularly useful for conveyors, packaging machinery, material handling and automatic access systems.

Typical Applications

  • Long-range conveyor object detection.
  • Packaging and processing machinery.
  • Material handling and transfer systems.
  • Automatic doors and industrial gates.
  • Product presence and position monitoring.
  • Warehouse and logistics automation.
  • General industrial machinery and control systems.
