The VR2B uses capacitive sensing technology to detect changes in capacitance caused by the presence of material near the sensor face. This makes it suitable for monitoring both conductive and non-conductive media without relying on moving components. With a sensing distance of up to 15 mm, a Ø30 mm threaded housing with 1½-inch pipe thread and an integrated 2 m cable, the VR2B is designed for convenient installation in tanks, vessels, hoppers and silos. Capacitive sensors such as the Carlo Gavazzi VR2B detect material by measuring changes in the electrical capacitance around the sensing face. When liquid, powder or another material enters the sensor's detection area, the resulting capacitance change can be detected and used to provide a level-control signal through the associated amplifier relay.
This sensing principle makes the VR2B suitable for applications where conventional mechanical level switches may be undesirable. With no moving sensing components and a rugged IP67 housing, it provides reliable level monitoring for industrial storage, handling and process equipment.
