ABB EPH-S60012 Protecta Home 12-Way 63A Main Switch Consumer Unit
The ABB EPH-S60012 Protecta Home 12-Way 63A Main Switch Consumer Unit (ABB order code 1TVC151800S3094) is a steel electrical distribution board designed to accommodate compatible outgoing circuit protective devices. Featuring 12 outgoing ways and a factory-fitted 63 A main switch isolator, it provides a compact and organised solution for suitable residential and similar low-voltage electrical installations.
Part of ABB's Protecta Home consumer unit range, the EPH-S60012 combines a robust steel enclosure with a straightforward main switch configuration. Its incoming isolator provides a means of disconnecting the consumer unit supply, while the outgoing circuit protection can be selected to meet the specific requirements of the electrical installation.
ABB specifies nominal enclosure dimensions of 250 × 330 × 105 mm (height × width × depth) for the EPH-S60012. The enclosure is finished in RAL 7035 grey and is supplied with a shrouded busbar, neutral bar, earth bar and installation instructions, together with the factory-fitted main switch.
The 12-way capacity provides flexibility for installations requiring several separately protected circuits without the size of a larger consumer unit. The EPH-S60012 is particularly useful where a 63 A incoming switch is appropriate for the installation design and a main-switch-only arrangement is preferred over a factory-fitted RCCB or split-load configuration.

12-Way Electrical Distribution with 63A Incoming Isolation
The ABB EPH-S60012 is intended for electrical installations where a 12-way consumer unit and 63 A incoming main switch meet the requirements of the distribution design. Its main-switch-only arrangement gives the installer flexibility to select compatible outgoing protective devices for the intended circuits.
The factory-fitted 63 A switch disconnector provides the incoming isolation function. This allows the consumer unit supply to be disconnected using the main switch. It is important to distinguish the switch's isolation function from circuit protection: the isolator does not independently provide residual current, overload or short-circuit protection.
The 63 A rated current applies to the incoming main switch. It does not mean that each outgoing circuit can carry 63 A, nor does it establish the permissible demand of the complete electrical installation. The electrician must consider supply characteristics, conductor ratings, protective device coordination, expected demand and thermal performance.
The 12 outgoing ways provide room for a suitable arrangement of final-circuit protective devices. Depending on the electrical design, these may include compatible MCBs or RCBOs. The actual number of devices that can be accommodated depends on their module widths, busbar compatibility and the manufacturer's approved assembly arrangements.
ABB specifies that its Protecta Home steel consumer units are supplied complete with a shrouded busbar, neutral bar and earth bar. These components provide the basis for an organised internal distribution arrangement, supporting appropriate connection of incoming and outgoing conductors.
The 250 × 330 × 105 mm nominal enclosure dimensions should be considered when planning the mounting position. Adequate space must be allowed for cable entry, conductor bending, access to the main switch and protective devices, inspection and maintenance.
The EPH-S60012 is not a factory-fitted RCCB consumer unit. Where additional protection by RCDs is required, the completed electrical design must incorporate appropriate devices. A main switch consumer unit can be suitable for an RCBO-based arrangement, provided the selected devices and assembly configuration are approved by ABB.
For projects requiring a different incoming switch rating, ABB also offers the EPH-S10012 12-way 100 A main switch consumer unit. Both models provide 12 outgoing ways, but their incoming switch ratings differ. Selection should be based on the installation design rather than enclosure capacity alone.
Installation and commissioning must be undertaken by a competent electrical professional in accordance with ABB's instructions and applicable requirements of BS 7671. The installer must verify protective device compatibility, conductor sizing, earthing arrangements, circuit identification, enclosure suitability and final electrical test results before energising the installation.
