Why Choose the ABB TLs External Sensor?
The ABB TLs is a dedicated external ambient light sensor for the ABB TL1 twilight switch, designed to detect natural daylight levels and enable automatic dusk-to-dawn lighting control. As an accessory within the ABB TL Line twilight switch range, it provides the remote light-sensing element required by the TL1 modular twilight switch.
The TLs is supplied as standard with the ABB TL1 but is also available separately as a replacement sensor. Its external housing incorporates a screw-secured upper section made from UV-resistant thermoplastic, helping provide homogeneous diffusion of daylight inside the sensor for dependable ambient-light detection.
Designed for outdoor sensing applications, the TLs also incorporates a cable gland for secure cable entry. When connected to the TL1, it enables the twilight control system to operate across the TL1's adjustable 2–200 lx brightness range, making it suitable for automatic control of exterior lighting in residential, commercial and public installations.

Reliable Ambient Light Detection
The ABB TLs provides the daylight measurement required by the TL1 twilight switch to determine when connected lighting should be switched on or off. Positioning the sensor externally allows it to monitor natural ambient light while the TL1 control unit remains installed safely inside the electrical distribution board or control panel.
Its UV-resistant thermoplastic upper housing is designed to provide homogeneous diffusion of daylight within the sensor. This construction, together with the integrated cable gland, makes the TLs a practical replacement or spare sensor for maintaining ABB TL1 automatic lighting control installations.
