Why Choose the ABB OT400E03C 400 A 3-Pole Manual Changeover Switch?
The ABB OT400E03C (1SCA022764R1950) is a heavy-duty 400 A, three-pole manual changeover switch designed for reliable switching between two electrical supply sources. Part of ABB's OT manual changeover switch range, it provides a practical solution for industrial power distribution, alternative supply selection and electrical installations requiring controlled source changeover.
Featuring a left-hand operating mechanism and I–0–II open-transition operation, the OT400E03C allows an electrical load to be connected to either of two supply sources, with an intermediate OFF position. This break-before-make switching arrangement disconnects the selected supply before connecting the alternative source.
The OT400E03C is supplied without an operating handle or shaft, allowing installers to select compatible ABB operating accessories for the intended panel or enclosure arrangement. It is a switch mechanism for integration into electrical equipment, rather than a complete metal enclosed safety switch.
Key Advantages
- 400 A rated current for demanding industrial power switching applications.
- Three-pole configuration supports simultaneous changeover of three conductors.
- I–0–II manual operation provides two supply positions and a central OFF position.
- Open-transition switching prevents intentional simultaneous connection of the two supply sources.
- Left-hand operating mechanism supports suitable panel layouts and operating arrangements.
- Separate handle and shaft selection provides flexibility for different installation configurations.
- ABB OT changeover technology provides a dedicated mechanical solution for source selection.
- Base-mounting arrangement supports integration into electrical panels and switchgear assemblies.
- Rated insulation voltage of 1000 V supports appropriately designed low-voltage installations.
- 12 kV rated impulse withstand voltage provides a defined insulation performance characteristic.
- Suitable for mains and alternative supply selection where manually operated changeover is required.
- Provides a clearly defined OFF position for suitable isolation procedures.
- Can be incorporated into industrial distribution boards and control equipment.
- Non-fused construction allows circuit protection to be selected separately.

Reliable 400 A Source Selection with I–0–II Open-Transition Operation
The ABB OT400E03C provides a mechanically operated method of selecting between two electrical supplies. In position I, the switch connects the first supply to the load. In position 0, the load is disconnected from both supplies. In position II, the switch connects the alternative supply to the load. Its open-transition design ensures that the two sources are not intentionally connected together during changeover.
The three-pole configuration is suited to appropriately designed three-phase electrical systems. With the operating mechanism located at the left end of the switch, the OT400E03C can be incorporated into suitable switchboards, distribution panels and control assemblies where that mechanical layout is required.
Because the switch is supplied without a handle and shaft, these components must be ordered separately and selected for compatibility with the switch and its mounting arrangement. The required enclosure protection rating is determined by the completed installation and its accessories, not by the switch mechanism alone.
The OT400E03C is a manual, non-fused changeover switch. It does not automatically detect supply failure, transfer between sources or provide overcurrent protection. Suitable protective devices, interconnection arrangements and operating procedures must be incorporated into the complete electrical system.
