Single-Phase CT Energy Monitoring with M-Bus

The ABB A42 113-100 uses external current transformers to provide accurate single-phase active energy measurement where direct-connected metering is unsuitable. Its transformer-connected architecture allows higher primary circuit currents to be monitored while the meter itself operates with a 1 A nominal current and accepts up to 6 A at its current input.

Integrated M-Bus communication enables energy and instrumentation data to be incorporated into compatible automatic meter-reading, building management and energy-monitoring systems. Combined with its configurable pulse or alarm output, instrumentation values, up to 25 alarm conditions and event logging, the A42 113-100 provides a flexible platform for both local and centralised energy monitoring.

Typical Applications

  • Commercial building energy monitoring.
  • Industrial single-phase energy metering.
  • Distribution board and switchboard monitoring.
  • CT-connected submetering applications.
  • Building management systems using M-Bus communication.
  • Centralised automatic meter-reading systems.
  • Plant and equipment energy monitoring.
  • Energy efficiency and consumption analysis.
  • Tenant, departmental and cost-centre energy monitoring.
  • Higher-current single-phase circuits requiring external current transformers.
