The Carlo Gavazzi DAC51CM24 is a compact and dependable star-delta timer relay designed to control the starting sequence of three-phase induction motors. As part of the established Carlo Gavazzi DAC51 timer series, it provides adjustable star timing and controlled transfer between the star and delta stages of a motor starter.
This timer offers selectable star timing ranges from 0.1 s to 600 s, together with an independently adjustable 50–130 ms star-to-delta transition delay. Its SPDT relay incorporates a neutral centre position, helping ensure a break between the star and delta control states during transfer.
With a universal 24–240 V AC/DC supply, a 5 A SPDT relay output and a slim 17.5 mm DIN-rail housing, the DAC51CM24 is suitable for motor-control centres, pumps, fans, compressors and industrial machinery requiring reduced-current starting.
Star-delta starting reduces the current drawn by a three-phase induction motor during acceleration. When power is applied, the Carlo Gavazzi DAC51CM24 switches to its star position and begins the selected timing period before returning briefly to its neutral centre position.
After the adjustable 50–130 ms transition delay, the relay switches to the delta position and remains there until the supply is interrupted for at least 200 ms. Correct coordination with suitably rated contactors and electrical interlocking helps prevent the star and delta contactors from being energised simultaneously.
