Why Choose the Pizzato SR AD42AN5 Magnetic Safety Sensor?
The Pizzato SR AD42AN5 is a compact coded magnetic safety sensor designed for non-contact monitoring of movable guards, doors and protective covers on industrial machinery. Part of the Pizzato SR-A Series, it provides reliable guard position detection for machine safety and interlocking systems while avoiding the mechanical engagement required by conventional tongue-operated safety switches.
The SR AD42AN5 uses coded magnetic detection and provides a 1NC + 1NO contact configuration with the protective guard closed. The sensor is designed to recognise the appropriate coded magnetic actuator rather than an ordinary magnet, helping provide dependable guard monitoring when connected to suitable safety control equipment.
This version is supplied without an actuator and features a 5 m PVC cable with 4 × 0.25 mm² conductors exiting from the right-hand side of its technopolymer housing. With IP67 / IP69K protection and an ambient operating temperature range of -25 °C to +80 °C, it is suitable for demanding industrial machinery environments.
Key Advantages
- Reliable coded magnetic non-contact guard monitoring.
- 1NC + 1NO contacts with the protective guard closed.
- Pre-wired with a generous 5 m PVC cable for flexible installation.
- Non-contact operation helps minimise mechanical wear during repeated guard movements.
- IP67 / IP69K protection for demanding industrial environments.
- Compatible with coded magnetic actuation for safety-related machine interlocking systems.

Reliable Non-Contact Guard Monitoring
Coded magnetic safety sensors monitor movable guards without requiring direct mechanical contact between the sensor and actuator. When the correct coded actuator enters the sensor's safe activation zone, the contacts assume their closed-guard state; when the actuator moves outside the assured release area, the contacts change to their open-guard state for evaluation by the associated safety control system.
When correctly installed and connected to suitable Pizzato safety modules, SR-A coded magnetic sensors can form part of safety control circuits achieving up to SIL 3, PL e and Category 4, depending on the architecture and validation of the complete safety system.
