Why Choose the Pizzato ST DD420N10 ST D Series Safety Sensor?
The Pizzato ST DD420N10 is a compact, non-contact RFID safety sensor designed for monitoring guards, doors and other protective devices on industrial machinery. As part of the Pizzato ST D series, it uses RFID technology to provide dependable electronic guard detection without the mechanical contact and associated wear of conventional electromechanical safety switches.
Designed for high-performance machine safety applications, the ST DD420N10 provides two safety inputs IS1-IS2, two safety outputs OS1-OS2, one signalling output O3 and one programming input I3. Its redundant electronic architecture allows the ST D series to support safety systems up to PL e, Category 4 and SIL 3 when correctly integrated, while compatible sensors can be connected in series for machinery with multiple guarded access points.
The sensor operates from a 24 V DC supply and this configuration is supplied with a 10 m PVC cable exiting from the right-hand side of its technopolymer housing. The ST DD420N10 is supplied without an actuator, allowing the appropriate compatible ST D series RFID actuator to be selected separately. With an operating temperature range of -25 °C to +70 °C and IP67 / IP69K protection, it is suitable for demanding industrial environments.

Reliable RFID Safety Monitoring for Industrial Machinery
RFID safety sensors such as the Pizzato ST D series monitor the position of movable machine guards without requiring physical contact between the sensor and actuator. A compatible coded RFID actuator is detected electronically, allowing the machine safety system to determine whether the associated protective guard is correctly positioned before hazardous machine functions are permitted.
The non-contact operating principle is particularly valuable on machinery with frequent operating cycles because there are no mechanically operated switching contacts between the sensor and actuator. The ST D series also supports connection of compatible sensors in series, providing an efficient solution for machinery with multiple guarded access points while supporting high safety performance levels.
