Why Choose the Pizzato ST GD230MP-P2 Safety Sensor?

The Pizzato ST GD230MP-P2 is an advanced multitag RFID safety sensor from the Pizzato ST G series, designed for non-contact monitoring and identification of multiple positions on guards and movable elements of industrial machinery. Its factory-programmed P2 functionality allows a single sensor to recognise two individually coded RFID actuators while combining functional safety monitoring with useful position-identification data.

The P2 configuration uses two high-level coded SM G1T actuators. When TAG0 is detected, the safety outputs are activated and code 0 is transmitted through signalling output O3; when TAG1 is detected, the safety outputs are activated and code 1 is transmitted through O3. This allows a compatible PLC or machine control system to determine which recognised actuator is positioned in front of the sensor.

Operating from a 24 V DC supply, the ST GD230MP-P2 features two safety inputs IS1-IS2, two safety outputs OS1-OS2 and one signalling output O3. The MP connection version incorporates an integrated M12 technopolymer connector, while the G1T actuator format provides an 11 mm actuation distance for dependable non-contact detection in industrial machinery applications.

Key Advantages

  • Multitag RFID safety sensor capable of recognising two individually coded actuators.
  • P2 programming distinguishes TAG0 and TAG1 through signalling output O3.
  • Both recognised P2 actuators activate the electronic safety outputs.
  • Two high-level coded SM G1T actuators provide individual RFID identification.
  • Two safety inputs IS1-IS2 support integration into compatible safety architectures.
  • Two safety outputs OS1-OS2 provide redundant electronic safety signalling.
  • Integrated M12 technopolymer connector simplifies machine wiring and replacement.
  • 11 mm actuation distance supports reliable non-contact position detection.
  • IP67 and IP69K protection supports demanding industrial environments.

Two-Position Multitag RFID Monitoring

The Pizzato multitag system extends conventional RFID guard monitoring by allowing a single sensor to recognise multiple high-level coded actuators. With the P2 configuration, two SM G1T actuators are recognised by the same sensor. Detection of either actuator activates the safety outputs, while O3 transmits a serial identification code corresponding to TAG0 or TAG1 for processing by a compatible PLC.

This functionality can be particularly useful on machinery where two recognised positions must be distinguished without installing a separate position sensor for each location. For safety applications, the actuators must be permanently secured to the machine in accordance with EN ISO 14119 and must not be used as a means of bypassing the protective function.

Typical Applications

  • Machine guards requiring recognition of two defined positions.
  • Automated production and assembly machinery.
  • Robotic cells and guarded automation systems.
  • Rotary and indexed machinery.
  • Packaging and processing equipment.
  • Material handling and automated transfer systems.
  • OEM machinery requiring RFID-based position identification.
