Why Choose the ABB JSTD1-C 2TLA020007R3200 Safeball?

The ABB JSTD1-C 2TLA020007R3200 is an ergonomic Safeball safety control device designed for one-hand and, particularly, two-hand machine control applications. Part of the ABB Jokab Safety JSTD1 series, its spherical housing contains two push-buttons that must both be pressed to operate the device, helping minimise the risk of unintended machine activation.

The JSTD1-C incorporates 1 NO and 1 NC independent contacts and is supplied with a permanently moulded 10 m four-conductor cable. Its ergonomic shape provides several grip possibilities, while an activation force of approximately 2 N supports responsive and comfortable operation during repetitive industrial machine cycles.

With a maximum resistive contact load of 30 V DC, 2 A, IP67 protection and a durable polypropylene body, the JSTD1-C is engineered for industrial machine safety applications. Two Safeballs can be used together with an appropriate safety relay or ABB Pluto Safety PLC to create a supervised two-hand control system that helps keep both operator hands away from hazardous machine movement.

Key Advantages

  • Ergonomic Safeball design provides multiple comfortable grip positions.
  • Two internal push-buttons must both be actuated, helping reduce unintended machine activation.
  • 1 NO + 1 NC independent contacts support monitored machine safety control.
  • Integral 10 m moulded cable provides generous connection reach without requiring a separate cable.
  • Low activation force of approximately 2 N supports responsive repetitive operation.
  • IP67 protection rating makes the device suitable for demanding industrial environments.
  • Can support high-level two-hand safety control when two Safeballs are correctly integrated with an appropriate safety controller.

Key Features

  • ABB Jokab Safety JSTD1 Safeball series.
  • One-hand / two-hand safety control device.
  • Two push-buttons integrated into the spherical housing.
  • 1 NO + 1 NC independent switches.
  • 10 m moulded cable.
  • 4-conductor cable connection.
  • 30 V DC, 2 A maximum resistive load.
  • Low operating force of approximately 2 N.
  • IP67 degree of protection.
  • Durable polypropylene body.
  • Flexible mounting possibilities for different machine layouts.
  • Suitable for use with appropriate safety relays or ABB Pluto Safety PLC systems.

Reliable Two-Hand Control for Industrial Machinery

The ABB Safeball operating principle uses two push-buttons positioned on opposite sides of the spherical actuator. Both buttons must be pressed to generate the operating signal, reducing the possibility of accidental activation. In a two-hand control system, two Safeballs are typically used so the operator must actuate all four push-buttons simultaneously to initiate and maintain machine operation.

If one or more of the required buttons are released, a stop signal is provided to the connected safety system. Combined with its ergonomic shape, approximately 2 N activation force and integral 10 m cable, the JSTD1-C provides a practical operator interface for machinery requiring frequent controlled production cycles and extended connection reach.

Typical Applications

  • Industrial two-hand machine control systems.
  • Presses and metalworking machinery.
  • Packaging and processing equipment.
  • Robotics and automated production systems.
  • Assembly and manufacturing machinery.
  • Industrial machines requiring operator-controlled production cycles.
