Why Choose the IMO AA1/AN-1A Inductive Proximity Switch?
The IMO AA1/AN-1A is an ultra-miniature inductive proximity switch designed for precise, contactless detection of metallic objects in industrial machinery and automation systems. Part of the IMO AA miniature inductive sensor series, its compact Ø3 mm cylindrical stainless steel housing makes it particularly suitable for installations where mounting space is extremely limited.
This shielded, flush-mount sensor provides a nominal sensing distance of 0.6 mm and features a normally open NPN transistor output. Operating from a 10–30 V DC supply, the AA1/AN-1A can be integrated with compatible PLC inputs, machine controllers and other industrial automation equipment for reliable position, presence and component detection.
The sensor is supplied with a permanently connected 2 m PUR cable and incorporates a yellow LED for output-state indication. Its IP67-rated AISI 303 stainless steel housing, protection against short circuits and reverse polarity, and operating temperature range of -25 to +70 °C support dependable operation in demanding industrial environments.

Inductive proximity switches detect metallic targets by generating an electromagnetic field at the active sensing face. When a suitable metal object enters this field, the sensor changes its transistor output state, allowing a PLC or machine controller to determine the presence or position of the target without physical contact.
The exceptionally small Ø3 mm body of the IMO AA1/AN-1A makes it particularly valuable for compact assemblies, precision machinery and automated equipment where conventional proximity sensors are too large. Its high switching frequency also supports rapid detection in applications involving fast-moving machine components.
