The Carlo Gavazzi CA18CLF08TOM6 is a robust M18 capacitive proximity sensor designed for reliable non-contact detection of conductive and non-conductive materials in industrial machinery and process automation. The CA18CLF08TOM6 provides a rated sensing distance of 8 mm, adjustable over a 3–8 mm range to suit different target materials and installation conditions. Its normally open SCR output and two-wire connection make it particularly suitable for AC control circuits, while an integrated LED provides convenient visual indication of sensor operation.
Operating from a wide 20–250 V AC supply, the sensor features a threaded M18 thermoplastic polyester housing, flush mounting and an M12 connector. TRIPLESHIELD™ technology provides high immunity to electrical interference, while transient protection and an IP67 enclosure rating support reliable operation in demanding industrial environments.
Capacitive proximity sensors detect changes in the electrical field at the sensing face, allowing them to identify many conductive and non-conductive materials without physical contact. The CA18CLF08TOM6 can therefore be used to detect plastics, glass, liquids, powders, granulates and other materials that cannot always be detected using conventional inductive proximity sensors.
