Why Choose the IMO FARN/BP-0E Polarised Retro-Reflective Photoelectric Sensor?
The IMO FARN/BP-0E is an M18 polarised retro-reflective photoelectric switch designed for reliable non-contact object detection in industrial automation, conveying, packaging and material-handling applications. Its retro-reflective operating principle uses a reflector opposite the sensor, allowing the emitter and receiver electronics to be contained within a single compact M18 housing.
The FARN/BP-0E provides an adjustable sensing distance of up to 3 m and uses a visible red LED light source. Polarised retro-reflective sensing helps distinguish the intended reflector from light returned by reflective targets, making this sensor particularly useful where shiny or reflective objects need to be detected reliably.
Operating from 10–30 V DC, the FARN/BP-0E provides complementary PNP NO+NC outputs with a maximum load current of 100 mA. Its durable PBT body, standard M12 connector and IP67 protection rating provide straightforward integration into industrial machinery and automation systems.

Reliable Polarised Retro-Reflective Object Detection
Retro-reflective photoelectric sensing places the emitter and receiver within the same sensor housing and uses a reflector mounted opposite the sensor to return the emitted light. An object passing between the FARN/BP-0E and its reflector interrupts the optical path, allowing the sensor to signal the target's presence without requiring a separate powered receiver.
The polarised optical principle provides an important advantage when detecting shiny or reflective objects because the sensor can distinguish correctly polarised light returned by the reflector from unwanted reflections produced by the target. Combined with its adjustable 3 m range and complementary PNP outputs, this makes the FARN/BP-0E a versatile choice for automated production and material-handling equipment.
