Why Choose the IMO FARP/BP-0A Polarised Retro-Reflective Photoelectric Sensor?

The IMO FARP/BP-0A is an M18 polarised retro-reflective photoelectric sensor designed for reliable object detection in industrial automation, conveying, packaging and machine control applications. Its cylindrical M18 × 1 PBT housing provides a compact and durable sensing solution for machinery where dependable non-contact detection is required.

The FARP/BP-0A uses a polarised retro-reflective sensing principle, operating with a suitable reflector to detect objects passing between the sensor and reflector. It provides a sensing distance of up to 4 m and uses visible 660 nm red light, with polarisation helping distinguish the reflector from unwanted reflections produced by shiny or reflective targets.

Operating from a standard 10–30 V DC supply, the FARP/BP-0A features complementary PNP normally open and normally closed outputs and is supplied with a 2 m PVC cable. A rugged IP67 housing, 250 Hz switching frequency and integrated protection against short circuits, reverse polarity, overvoltage and transient conditions make it well suited to demanding industrial automation installations.

Key Advantages

  • Polarised retro-reflective sensing provides reliable object detection using a separate reflector.
  • Long sensing distance of up to 4 m with axial optics.
  • Polarised optical system helps reduce false switching from shiny and reflective objects.
  • Complementary PNP NO + NC outputs provide flexible control-system integration.
  • Fast 250 Hz switching frequency supports moving-object detection.
  • Standard 10–30 V DC supply suits common industrial automation systems.
  • Integral 2 m PVC cable provides straightforward hard-wired installation.
  • IP67 protection supports operation in demanding industrial environments.

Reliable Polarised Retro-Reflective Object Detection

Polarised retro-reflective photoelectric sensing uses a sensor containing both the light emitter and receiver together with a separate reflector. Light is transmitted towards the reflector and returned to the sensor, with an object detected when it interrupts the optical path. Polarisation improves discrimination between the intended reflector and direct reflections from shiny targets, helping provide more dependable switching in industrial applications.

The IMO FARP/BP-0A combines this sensing method with a 4 m maximum axial sensing distance, complementary PNP outputs and a fast 250 Hz switching frequency. This makes it suitable for detecting products, components and packages on conveyors and automated machinery where conventional diffuse sensing may be less reliable.

Typical Applications

  • Conveyor object and package detection.
  • Packaging and processing machinery.
  • Detection of shiny or reflective components.
  • Materials handling systems.
  • Automated production equipment.
  • Part presence and position detection.
  • Counting and monitoring applications.
  • Warehouse and logistics automation.
  • PLC-based machine control systems.
