Why Choose the Carlo Gavazzi PMR10RIT Photoelectric Sensor?

The Carlo Gavazzi PMR10RIT is a robust retro-reflective photoelectric sensor with integrated time delay, designed for reliable long-distance object detection in industrial automation systems. Part of the Carlo Gavazzi PMR series, it combines infrared optical sensing, a versatile relay output and adjustable timing functionality for material handling, packaging machinery, automatic doors and general machine automation.

The PMR10RIT provides a rated switching distance of 10 m and uses 880 nm modulated infrared light. Its SPDT change-over relay output provides normally open and normally closed contacts, while selectable light-on and dark-on operation allows the switching behaviour to be configured for the application.

An integrated time-delay function adds flexibility where delayed sensor response is required. The PMR10RIT operates from a wide 10.8–264 V DC or 21.6–264 V AC supply and combines screw-terminal wiring, a 1/2-inch NPT cable entry and IP67 protection in a durable rectangular plastic housing.

Key Advantages

  • Long-distance retro-reflective sensing up to 10 m.
  • Integrated time-delay function adds timing capability directly at the sensor.
  • SPDT change-over relay output provides both NO and NC contacts.
  • Selectable light-on / dark-on operation for flexible control logic.
  • Wide 10.8–264 V DC / 21.6–264 V AC supply range.
  • Relay output supports loads up to 3 A.
  • Rugged IP67 housing supports demanding industrial installations.

Retro-Reflective Detection with Integrated Time Delay

Retro-reflective photoelectric sensing uses a sensor and separate reflector positioned opposite one another. The sensor transmits modulated infrared light towards the reflector and monitors the returned beam; when an object interrupts the optical path, the relay changes state. This arrangement provides reliable long-distance detection while requiring electrical wiring only at the sensor side.

The integrated timing capability distinguishes the PMR10RIT from the standard PMR10RI configuration. Combining a time function with an SPDT relay output allows the sensor to support applications where the control response must be delayed rather than occurring immediately when the optical state changes.

Typical Applications

  • Conveyor object and package detection.
  • Packaging and processing machinery.
  • Automated material handling systems.
  • Automatic doors and industrial gates.
  • Product presence and position monitoring.
  • Timed detection and machine-control sequences.
  • Warehouse, logistics and general industrial automation.
