Why Choose the Carlo Gavazzi VD1 Extension Joint?

The Carlo Gavazzi VD1 is a dedicated extension joint for 5 mm level probe electrodes, designed for use with compatible Carlo Gavazzi VN and VT conductive level probes. It provides a practical means of extending probe electrodes where additional reach is required for level monitoring in tanks, vessels and other industrial process applications.

Designed as part of the Carlo Gavazzi level sensing accessory range, the VD1 is intended specifically for the 5 mm diameter electrodes used by VN and VT probe families. These conductive level probe ranges use stainless-steel electrodes for reliable liquid level detection, and the extension joint enables greater flexibility when configuring the probe arrangement for different vessel depths.

The VD1 is a mechanical probe accessory rather than a standalone sensor or switching device. Its compact joint format allows compatible 5 mm electrodes to be extended while retaining the established Carlo Gavazzi level sensing system, making it useful for customised tank and process level installations.

Key Advantages

  • Purpose-designed extension joint for Carlo Gavazzi level probes.
  • Compatible with VN and VT probe families.
  • Designed for 5 mm diameter probe electrodes.
  • Allows probe reach to be extended for deeper tanks and vessels.
  • Supports flexible configuration of conductive liquid level sensing systems.
  • Compact mechanical accessory for straightforward integration with compatible probes.

Key Features

  • Carlo Gavazzi level sensor accessory.
  • Extension joint configuration.
  • Designed for 5 mm probe electrodes.
  • Suitable for VN series conductive level probes.
  • Suitable for VT series conductive level probes.
  • Used to extend the effective reach of compatible level probe electrodes.
  • Mechanical accessory requiring no separate electrical supply.
  • Suitable for industrial liquid level monitoring installations.

Flexible Probe Extension for Conductive Level Sensing

Conductive level sensing systems use electrodes positioned at the required monitoring levels within a vessel. When a conductive liquid reaches an electrode, the associated level controller can detect the change in conductivity and use this information for level indication, pump control, filling or emptying functions.

Carlo Gavazzi VN and VT probes use 5 mm stainless-steel electrodes, with standard probe configurations available for industrial liquid level monitoring. The VD1 extension joint allows compatible electrodes to be extended where the standard probe reach does not suit the depth or geometry of the installation.

Typical Applications

  • Extending VN and VT conductive level probe electrodes.
  • Liquid level monitoring in tanks and vessels.
  • Water and wastewater level control systems.
  • Pump control and dry-running protection installations.
  • Industrial process tanks and storage vessels.
  • Customised conductive level sensing assemblies.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Carlo Gavazzi VD1 used for?

The VD1 is an extension joint for 5 mm probe electrodes, allowing compatible Carlo Gavazzi conductive level probes to be extended for installations requiring additional probe reach.

Which Carlo Gavazzi probes are compatible with the VD1?

The VD1 is designed for use with compatible Carlo Gavazzi VN and VT level probe families.

What probe diameter is the VD1 designed for?

The VD1 is designed for 5 mm diameter level probe electrodes.

Is the VD1 a complete level sensor?

No. The VD1 is a mechanical extension joint used as an accessory within a compatible Carlo Gavazzi level sensing system; it is not a standalone level sensor or controller.

Why would a VD1 extension joint be required?

A VD1 can be used when a level probe electrode needs additional reach to position the sensing point at the required depth within a tank, vessel or other level monitoring application.

Does the VD1 require an electrical supply?

No. The VD1 functions as a mechanical probe extension accessory and therefore does not require a separate electrical power supply.
