Why Choose the IMO US10D1016A Miniature Circuit Breaker?
The IMO US10D1016A is a compact UL1077 supplementary miniature circuit breaker (MCB) designed to provide dependable overload and short-circuit protection for industrial control panels, OEM machinery and factory automation equipment. Manufactured by IMO Precision Controls, this single-pole circuit breaker combines thermo-magnetic protection with a space-efficient DIN rail mounted construction.
With a 16 A rated current and a D Curve tripping characteristic, the US10D1016A is particularly suited to circuits containing transformers, solenoids, contactor coils and other inductive equipment that can produce substantial start-up currents. Its characteristic helps accommodate brief inrush conditions while maintaining effective protection against genuine electrical faults.
The breaker provides a 10 kA short-circuit breaking capacity and can be installed alongside PLCs, relays, contactors, power supplies and other control components. Its compact modular format makes it a practical choice for machine builders, panel manufacturers and automation engineers seeking reliable supplementary circuit protection without unnecessarily increasing enclosure size.

D Curve Protection for High-Inrush Loads
The D Curve operating characteristic makes the IMO US10D1016A suitable for equipment that draws a high but short-duration current when energised. Whereas more sensitive trip curves may disconnect unnecessarily during normal start-up, a D Curve breaker allows an appropriate level of inrush current before its magnetic protection mechanism operates.
This characteristic is commonly used with transformers, inductive power supplies, solenoid valves, contactor coils and selected motor-control circuits. Correct circuit design must still consider conductor size, prospective fault current, load characteristics and the required upstream branch-circuit protection.
Reliable Supplementary Circuit Protection
During a sustained overload, the thermal mechanism within the US10D1016A disconnects the protected circuit before excessive current can cause damaging conductor or component temperatures. During a short circuit, its magnetic mechanism operates rapidly to interrupt the fault current.
As a UL1077 supplementary protector, the US10D1016A is intended for use within electrical equipment or control systems where branch-circuit protection is already provided. It should not be treated as a direct replacement for a UL489 branch-circuit breaker where that certification is required.
