Why Choose the Lovato GLCMB0160A230 Motorised Changeover Switch?

The Lovato GLCMB0160A230 is a dependable motorised three-pole changeover switch designed to transfer electrical loads between two independent power sources. With a 160 A IEC conventional free-air thermal current and a 208–277 V AC motor supply, it is an excellent choice for automatic transfer switch panels, standby generator systems and critical power distribution applications.

Part of the established Lovato GLCM series, the GLCMB0160A230 combines a robust switching mechanism with motorised remote operation. When connected to a compatible automatic transfer controller, it can support dependable mains-to-generator or source-to-source transfer without requiring routine manual intervention.

The switch is manufactured in accordance with IEC/EN/BS 60947-3 and IEC/EN/BS 60947-6-1. Its high short-circuit withstand capability, 20,000-cycle mechanical life and flexible mounting position make it suitable for demanding commercial and industrial switchboard installations.

Key Advantages

  • Motorised operation supports remote and automatic power-source transfer.
  • 160 A thermal current rating for substantial commercial and industrial loads.
  • Three-pole configuration suitable for three-phase electrical systems.
  • Wide 208–277 V AC motor supply range.
  • 100 kA conditional short-circuit current rating with suitable fuse protection.
  • Can be mounted in any operating position for flexible panel integration.

Key Features

  • Lovato GLCM motorised changeover switch series.
  • 160 A IEC conventional free-air thermal current (Ith).
  • Three-pole changeover construction.
  • 208–277 V AC rated motor operating voltage.
  • Extended motor operating range of 166–332 V AC.
  • 1000 V rated insulation voltage.
  • 12 kV rated impulse withstand voltage.
  • Rated for up to 20,000 mechanical operating cycles.
  • Fast source-transfer operation with controlled centre-off switching.
  • Screw fixing and front-accessible M8 power terminals.

Controlled Centre-Off Power Transfer

The Lovato GLCMB0160A230 uses a controlled changeover sequence with defined I, O and II positions. During a transfer, the connected load is disconnected from the active source before the alternative source is engaged. This break-before-make operation helps prevent the two independent power supplies from being connected together unintentionally.

The motorised mechanism can be controlled remotely and integrated with a suitable automatic transfer controller. The controller monitors the available supplies and commands the switch to transfer the load when the preferred source fails, returns or falls outside configured electrical limits.

Typical Applications

  • Automatic transfer switch and ATS control panels.
  • Mains-to-generator changeover systems.
  • Standby and emergency power installations.
  • Industrial power distribution switchboards.
  • Commercial buildings and infrastructure facilities.
  • Manufacturing and process-control installations.
  • Data centres, telecommunications and critical services.
  • Renewable energy and alternative supply systems.
