Why Choose the Ilme CLMDD Male POF Fibre Optic Crimp Contact?
The Ilme CLMDD, also identified as CLM DD, is a male fibre optic crimp contact designed for 1.0 mm polymer optical fibre (POF). Part of Ilme's CL fibre optic contact range, it enables optical data transmission through compatible Ilme heavy-duty multipole connector inserts while retaining the familiar geometry of the CD-series crimp-contact system.
The CLMDD is designed for POF with a 1.0 mm fibre diameter and a maximum external cable diameter of 2.2 mm. The male contact requires a minimum stripping length of 19 mm before crimping and preparation, and Ilme recommends using its approved crimping tools to achieve the correct termination.
Fibre optic transmission provides inherent immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electrical isolation, making the CLMDD particularly useful for industrial data links operating near motors, drives and other electrically noisy equipment. The contact is specified for ambient temperatures from -40 to +85 °C and a mechanical life of at least 500 mating cycles.

Reliable POF Connectivity for Industrial Networks
Polymer optical fibre offers important benefits for industrial communication because optical signals are not affected by electromagnetic interference in the same way as conventional copper-based data connections. The Ilme CLMDD enables 1.0 mm POF to be incorporated into selected rugged Ilme multipole connector systems, supporting detachable optical links in demanding machinery and automation installations.
Correct preparation of the fibre is important for optical performance. Ilme specifies stripping, crimping, cutting and polishing procedures for the CL contact system and recommends approved crimp tooling and suitable alignment or coding pins to minimise contact misalignment and optical attenuation.
