ETE MV250P1S1 250 VA Multi-Voltage Control Transformer – 55 V / 110 V AC Output
The ETE MV250P1S1 is a 250 VA single-phase multi-voltage industrial control transformer featuring a tapped primary winding and a selectable 55 V AC or 110 V AC secondary output. Part of the ETE MV multi-voltage stock control transformer range, this model is designed for industrial electrical control panels, OEM machinery and automation systems requiring a compatible AC control supply.
The transformer features 10/0/220/240 V primary terminals and 0/55/110 V secondary terminals. The secondary taps allow the appropriate nominal output voltage to be selected for equipment requiring either 55 V AC or 110 V AC, subject to the manufacturer's approved wiring arrangement.
An important feature of the MV250P1S1 is its 10 V primary adjustment tap. This provides additional flexibility in primary voltage selection, but the precise terminal arrangement must be confirmed with ETE. Do not assume the correct adjustment tap connections from the terminal markings alone.
With a 250 VA apparent power rating, Class E insulation and 8% voltage regulation, the MV250P1S1 offers a practical solution for compatible industrial control loads. Its dimensions are 120 × 88 × 120 mm, with a specified weight of 3.9 kg.
The transformer is listed in the ETE Stock Control Transformer Range, March 2026, with specified enclosure references of EPH 3 or EPN 2.

The ETE MV250P1S1 incorporates a tapped primary winding identified by the terminals 10/0/220/240 V. This arrangement provides flexibility for compatible AC supply configurations, with the correct connection determined by the manufacturer's wiring diagram.
The 10 V primary adjustment tap requires particular attention. Although the terminal markings identify the available winding taps, they do not independently establish every permissible supply connection. The adjustment tap should not be treated as a standalone 10 V input.
Confirm the intended primary supply connection with ETE before energising the transformer. This is especially important when using the adjustment tap or replacing an existing transformer with a different terminal arrangement.
On the secondary side, the 0/55/110 V terminal arrangement provides selectable nominal AC output voltages. The appropriate secondary connection can be selected for compatible equipment requiring either 55 V AC or 110 V AC.
The two secondary voltage options are taps on the specified secondary arrangement. They should not be interpreted as two independent 250 VA outputs. Any simultaneous use of multiple taps, including permissible combined loading, must be confirmed against the manufacturer's technical documentation.
55 V AC and 110 V AC Secondary Output Options
55 V AC Secondary Connection
The 55 V AC tap allows the MV250P1S1 to supply compatible equipment requiring a nominal 55 V AC control voltage. The actual terminal connection must follow the ETE wiring diagram.
This option may be useful for specialist industrial control circuits, replacement equipment and machinery designed around a 55 V AC supply.
110 V AC Secondary Connection
The 110 V AC tap provides a nominal 110 V AC secondary output for compatible control equipment. This voltage is commonly encountered in industrial control applications, including suitable AC relay and contactor circuits.
Before connecting a load, verify its nominal voltage, apparent power requirements and acceptable operating voltage range.
250 VA Output Capacity and Calculated Secondary Current
The MV250P1S1 has a rated apparent power of 250 VA. The current corresponding to a particular nominal secondary voltage can be calculated using:
Current (A) = Apparent power (VA) ÷ Secondary voltage (V)
Calculated Current at 55 V AC
For a nominal 55 V AC output:
250 VA ÷ 55 V = approximately 4.55 A
This is the mathematical current corresponding to the full 250 VA rating at 55 V AC. It is not independent confirmation of the manufacturer's permissible loading for the 55 V tap.
Calculated Current at 110 V AC
For a nominal 110 V AC output:
250 VA ÷ 110 V = approximately 2.27 A
This is the mathematical current corresponding to the full 250 VA rating at 110 V AC.
The transformer's overall 250 VA rating must not be counted separately for each secondary tap. The connected load, permissible tap loading and any simultaneous use of output connections should be assessed using ETE's technical documentation.
Where electromagnetic contactors, relays or other inductive loads are connected, starting and inrush requirements should also be considered.
What Does 8% Voltage Regulation Mean?
The ETE MV250P1S1 has a specified 8% voltage regulation. Transformer voltage regulation describes the change in secondary voltage between no-load and rated-load conditions under defined conditions.
The actual secondary voltage may therefore vary with the applied primary voltage and the connected load. The nominal 55 V AC and 110 V AC output values should not be interpreted as guaranteed constant voltages under all operating conditions.
Electrical designers should consider the 8% regulation characteristic when selecting connected equipment with defined voltage tolerances.
Typical Applications
- Industrial electrical control panels requiring 55 V AC or 110 V AC.
- OEM machinery incorporating compatible AC control circuits.
- Electrical panel-building projects requiring a tapped secondary transformer.
- Industrial automation and process control equipment.
- Compatible 110 V AC relay and contactor control circuits.
- Specialist control circuits designed for 55 V AC operation.
- Industrial switching and auxiliary electrical assemblies.
- Packaging, manufacturing and processing machinery.
- Machine control cabinets requiring a dedicated AC control supply.
- Maintenance and replacement installations specifying a compatible 250 VA multi-voltage transformer.
- Electrical systems requiring a 55 V or 110 V secondary tap.

Installation and Terminal Connection Considerations
Before installing the ETE MV250P1S1, verify the available primary supply, intended secondary output, connected load and correct winding connections.
Primary connection: The 10/0/220/240 V terminals include a 10 V adjustment tap. Confirm the correct connection arrangement with ETE rather than relying on assumptions about the terminal markings.
Secondary connection: The 0/55/110 V terminals provide nominal 55 V AC and 110 V AC output options. Use the approved terminal combination for the required voltage.
Suitable primary and secondary circuit protection, conductor sizing, protective earthing where applicable, ventilation and secure mechanical mounting should be incorporated into the installation design.
The specified EPH 3 or EPN 2 enclosure references should be checked against the intended installation requirements. An enclosure reference alone does not establish the environmental protection rating of the complete assembly.
